Christmas Podding: Day 5 – Networking at Christmas: Mulled Wine or Missed Opportunity? 🎄

Video

Welcome back to the We Do Grotto! While Paddy’s mince pie marathon continues (Aldi still in the lead for now), today we’re tackling a hot topic: Christmas networking.

Is it all just mulled wine and mince pies, or could it actually be worth your time? Here’s what we think:

  • In-person trumps virtual. After years of Teams calls, nothing beats being in a room with real people. If you can go, make the effort.
  • Be selective. Think about where you are in your career and choose events that align with your goals – don’t waste time at gatherings that won’t help you grow.
  • Push yourself. Networking isn’t always easy (especially for the self-proclaimed grumpy ones among us), but meeting just one key person could make all the difference.

The takeaway? If it’s worth doing, push yourself to go – but if it’s not aligned with your goals, it’s OK to sit this one out. Just don’t let mince pies and mulled wine be the only thing on your December calendar.
