Assistant Accountant

Wimbledon - Hybrid (1-2 days in office)

£38,000- £40,000 + benefits

We are looking for a diligent and hands on Assistant Accountant to support an established family office with both it's business and philanthropic interests.

This position reports to a brilliant CFO who is a strong mentor and requires someone with a keen eye for detail who is hard working and responsible.

Wish List

  • AAT or professional studies (desirable)
  • Prior experience of a transactional finance role
  • People person who works well with colleagues at all levels
  • Experience up to trial balance level
  • A capable Excel user.

The Role

The successful Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero accounting software.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • Manage petty cash and expense claims.
  • Maintain the purchase ledger and sales ledger.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Support the CFO with year end statutory accounts processes (and audits as applicable) including dealing with queries from external accountants.
  • Perform monthly Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss reconciliations, maintaining schedules throughout.
  • Support the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Monthly payroll preparation.
  • Support with budget preparation, as well assisting with other reports and schedules as required by the CFO/COO.

We need someone who is bright, enthusiastic and comfortable with the nitty gritty elements of finance while also being willing to muck in with operational or administrative tasks form time to time.

Great attention to detail and an ability to handle queries both internally and externally is essential!

Your Profile

We are looking for an established Assistant Accountant who has experience delivering transactional finance tasks.

Experience of Xero would be a bonus as well as capable Excel skills.

Salary & Benefits

£38,000 - £40,000 plus benefits. This role is based in Wimbledon close to public transport links.
