Assistant Accountant

Woking - Hybrid

£35,000- £40,000 + benefits

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to support a rapidly growing international IT services organisation, based near Woking.

This position reports to a qualified Finance Manager and would be ideal for someone looking to step up and take on more month end tasks, or simply someone who wants a new challenge at a similar level.

Wish List

  • Degree educated or qualified/studying professional qualifications (AAT/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Prior experience of transactional accounting tasks
  • Ideally exposure to multi-entity/multi-currency environments
  • A capable Excel user.

The Role

The successful Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Monitor bank accounts and post transactions in the accounting system on a weekly basis.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts at weekly and at month end.
  • Prepare all journals entries including prepayments.
  • Assist Finance Manager with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Using a Centralised Account Payable service centre, assist with processing vendor invoices that are received from our global offices and enter into the accounting system.
  • Monitor the supplier records on the system.
  • Processing employee expenses on the internal expense reporting system on Lotus Notes, ensuring adherence to the company expenses policy.
  • Upload employee expenses into the accounting system.
  • Prepare weekly vendor payment files for uploading to our banking system.
  • Ensure prompt and timely payment.
  • Maintain regular and accurate filing system for all paperwork.
  • Manage pre-payment of overseas accommodation.

We need someone who is a strong communicator, bright, enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in across a variety of finance duties.

Great attention to detail and an ability to handle queries in a professional manner (both internally and externally) is essential!

Your Profile

We are looking for an experienced transactional finance professional who is focused on building their experience in finance & accounting.

Prior transactional finance experience in a multi-entity or multi-currency environment would be a highly desirable but isn't essential.

Sound experience of Excel would be advantageous (Vlookups and Pivot tables)
