We are looking for a diligent Accounts Assistant to support a growing accounting practice based near New Malden.

This is an entry level position that reports to the Practice Manager (a true people person)and requires someone with a keen eye for detail and a desire to develop a career in accounting.

  • Keen to pursue professional studies (AAT preferable)
  • Ideally some prior experience of accounting, either in a workplace or via education
  • A people person who works well with different characters
  • A capable IT user - Excel, Word etc

The Role

The successful Accounts Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero accounting software.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • Manage petty cash and expense claims.
  • Maintain the purchase ledger and sales ledger.
  • Assist with any month-end and year-end closing procedures as directed.
  • Support the year end statutory accounts processes as required by the practice manager e.g. dealing with queries from external accountants.
  • To also provide additional administrative support as required, including updating process manuals, proof reading reports, dealing with correspondence and electronic filing.

We need someone who is bright, enthusiastic and comfortable with the nitty gritty elements of finance while also being willing to muck in with operational or administrative tasks from time to time.

Great attention to detail and an ability to handle queries both internally and externally is essential!

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is looking to develop their career in accounting and will be keen to learn under close direction from the practice manager.

Part time flexibility could also be offered with this role for the right person and will be agreed on a case by case basis however the preference would be for at least c. 30hrs per week as a minimum.

Salary & Benefits

£25,000 - £29,000 plus study support and benefits. This role is based in New Malden close to public transport links.
