Accounts Assistant

Employment type: Permanent
Salary: 32k/year - 38k/year

Part Time (4 days)

We Do Group are supporting a values led marketing business operating in the charity space, known for its people first culture and genuinely supportive working environment.

Behind the scenes sits a small, close knit finance team supporting multiple businesses, a large field based workforce and a high volume of day to day transactions. This role is a key part of keeping everything running smoothly.

It is busy and hands on.

It is also flexible, collaborative and built around trust.

The Role:

This is a part time Accounts Assistant role supporting the day to day running of finance across several entities.

You will work closely with experienced finance leaders and take ownership of core bookkeeping activities. The role is transactional in nature but requires someone switched on enough to join the dots, spot issues and take pride in keeping the books clean and accurate.

The work runs on a four weekly cycle. Some weeks are steady. Payroll weeks are busy. This will suit someone who understands that rhythm and is comfortable leaning in when deadlines matter.

What you will be doing:

  • Processing high volumes of employee expenses, mainly mileage
  • Managing supplier invoices, approvals and payment runs
  • Posting and reconciling bank transactions
  • Supporting four weekly payroll preparation and queries
  • Supporting VAT returns for partially exempt entities
  • Maintaining accurate ledgers across multiple companies
  • Reviewing nominals and spotting mispostings
  • Supporting journals, prepayments and accruals where required
  • Handling finance queries from the wider business
  • Supporting month end processes and reporting

What they are looking for

  • Strong Accounts Assistant or bookkeeping experience
  • Comfortable working across multiple entities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident with spreadsheets and finance systems
  • Able to juggle priorities and manage a busy inbox
  • Happy being hands on and taking ownership
  • Comfortable asking questions and flagging issues early
  • Backgrounds from SMEs or small accountancy practices tend to work particularly well.
  • Payroll experience is helpful but not essential. Strong core bookkeeping and VAT knowledge matters far more.

Why this role stands out

  • A genuinely supportive and down to earth finance team
  • A people first culture where flexibility is real, not just talked about
  • Meaningful work connected to the charity sector
  • Stability and long term opportunity for the right person

Salary & Benefits

  • £32,000 to £38,000 FTE (DoE)
  • 36 days holiday pro rata (Including bank holidays)
  • Hybrid working - 2 days in office/ 2 from home
  • Pension
  • Private medical
