Group Financial Controller

Employment type: Permanent
Salary: 75k/year - 90k/year

DIDCOT – 4 DAYS OFFICE / 1 DAY WFH (FRIDAY) – PERMANENT – SMALL CAP MANUFACTURING PLC

£75,000–£90,000 + discretionary bonus

Are you a Group Financial Controller who enjoys owning the numbers end-to-end? Do you thrive in a hands-on role where listed reporting, inventory, and audit deadlines are at the core?

We Do Group are hiring a Group Financial Controller for an, AIM-listed manufacturing business with a genuinely interesting product and a clear growth plan. This role replaces a long-standing incumbent and sits alongside a Head of Finance Business Partnering, with one direct report in finance admin.

It’s a classic financial control seat - IFRS reporting, statutory accounts, audit, tax and the day-to-day that keeps a growing group running properly. You’ll also work closely with the manufacturing team to get inventory accounting right (a meaningful part of the cost base), and keep on top of UK + US compliance with support from third-party advisers.

WISH LIST

  • Strong financial control background in a listed (ideally AIM) or high-expectation environment (e.g., PE-backed)
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing setting with inventory complexity (component-based build, not simple buy/sell stock)
  • A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach - calm when priorities shift and deadlines don’t move

THE ROLE

  • Own financial control for a group with two UK entities (PLC + trading sub) and one US entity
  • Lead monthly close, including journals for prepayments, accruals, fixed assets and other key areas
  • Produce the monthly reporting pack with clear variance analysis and commentary
  • Manage inventory accounting end-to-end, partnering closely with manufacturing to land accurate stock positions
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity (reconciliations, controls, and timely issue resolution)
  • Lead the annual audit process and manage external auditors to deadline
  • Prepare and coordinate statutory accounts and annual report requirements under IFRS
  • Oversee UK tax compliance (with advisers): corporate tax, VAT review, and other filings as needed
  • Coordinate US filings (sales tax, reporting requests, tax packs) via third parties - providing accurate inputs and keeping timelines tight
  • Support and develop one finance admin (AP, cash processing, payment runs, VAT prep for review)
  • Draft concise papers/briefings for audit committee needs and accounting policy updates
  • Improve processes where the current setup is “works well, but could work better”

YOUR PROFILE

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA) - likely audit trained
  • Effective communicator – written & verbal
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience in a listed reporting or high-expectation environment (PE) environment with immovable deadlines
  • Strong exposure to manufacturing/inventory accounting (component build, stock valuation, control discipline)

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • £75,000–£90,000
  • Discretionary bonus
  • 4 days in the office / Fridays from home
  • 25 days holiday + option to buy 5 more
  • Bupa private medical
