Financial Accountant

Full-Time | Fully On-Site | Newly Qualified ACA

We Do Group are partnering with a growing business to recruit a Financial Accountant into their finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified ACA, ideally making their first move from practice into industry, who wants a role that offers much more than traditional financial reporting.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider leadership team, you’ll take ownership of key areas of the month-end process while gaining exposure to commercial analysis, forecasting, systems development, process improvement and senior stakeholder engagement.

The business is looking for someone ambitious, hands-on and technically strong who wants to develop their commercial skillset alongside a solid financial accounting foundation.

What will you be doing?

  • Preparing and posting month-end journals, with a focus on delivering an efficient month-end close.
  • Managing fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Preparing monthly accruals and prepayments.
  • Reviewing and reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
  • Managing monthly intercompany/interdivisional cross-charges and resolving associated queries.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and supporting schedules.
  • Taking ownership of quarterly royalty reporting.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with month-end reporting.
  • Assisting with annual corporation tax computations and audit preparation.
  • Preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Meeting with senior leadership to review and forecast spend.
  • Providing commercial analysis, including measuring the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and improvements in financial performance.
  • Supporting the development and improvement of financial systems, including hands-on involvement with Oracle.
  • Supporting weekly payment runs.
  • Monitoring customer credit and payment terms to help manage financial risk.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practice with the Credit Controller and Accounts Assistant to improve the wider team’s effectiveness.

What are we looking for?

  • Newly qualified ACA with a practice-trained background.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of internal controls.
  • A desire to make the move into industry and develop broader commercial finance experience.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A structured and methodical approach to your work.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.
  • Proactive, ambitious and keen to take on new challenges.
