This would probably suit a Senior Head of Finance or Financial Controller looking for a step into a Director level position. Although this is reporting into a CFO, it’s very much responsible for the finance function which will span across FP&A, Reporting, Transactional Finance and Systems.

The successful Director of Finance is likely to be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) and have a very varied accounting background as this is running a complete finance function cradle to grave.

The Role

This role sits in their London head office so would suit someone who likes being in the office at least three days a week. This is based in Central London.

We need someone who likes managing a team and has a really varied background, someone who knows how to do the accounting, but can also add value around FP&A, business partnering and build a best-in-class finance function.

The successful Finance Director will be involved in the following:

• Managing, develop and train the core finance team and core finance functions. This includes payables, receivables, banking, management accounts & FP&A.
• Support the wider business with finance support and business partnering.
• Be able to step into detail to cover your key reports when needed.
• Prepare monthly board packs.
• Manage the production of monthly management accounts, this includes divisional profit and loss accounts, league tables, capex, debtors, KPI reporting and P&L, balance sheet & cash forecasting.
• Ensuring financial and commercial leadership with respect to delivering targets by proactively managing the revenue and cost, and by ensuring the profits and costs of the divisions are tightly controlled.
• Assist in identifying and proposing cost savings by constantly reviewing suppliers, ensuring best value.
• Monitor and ensure control of the business cash flow reporting requirements.
• Maintaining close control of the balance sheets.
• Reporting and accounting as per regulatory and legal requirements.
• Keeping up to date in new UK GAAP accounting standards and all areas of compliance.
• Dealing with all tax matters.
• Overseeing the audit process with responsibility for the production of draft year end statutory accounts and audit files.
• Maintain and recommend best practice financial procedures and controls in line with business growth.
• Assist the CFO in the budgeting process in a way that promotes ownership by business area.
• Responsible for all accounting of Group acquisitions and integrating future acquisitions into Group reporting.
• Assist in the implementation of new software packages
• As you will see this is a really varied and challenging role working for a very supporting and talented CFO.

Your Profile

We are looking for an innovative people person who wants to create a best in class finance function.

Being able to work in London three days a week is critical.

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
• Strong experience leading a varied finance function.
• Stable career to date that shows progression.
• Ideally come from a business services background. (Legal, Sales, Recruitment, Estate Agency)
• Come from a background of being able to work out sales commissions.
• Coming from an mid-sixed company would help given the hands on nature.
