Christmas Podding: Day 19 โ€“ Is It Okay to Use Humour on Your CV? ๐ŸŽ„

Video

Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where todayโ€™s question is one we hear a lot: Should you use humour on your CV?

Hereโ€™s the verdict:

  • Humour is subjective. What one person finds funny, another might find unprofessional. Especially in roles like finance directors or CFOs, humour can be a risky move.
  • Avoid it on the CV. Keep your CV professional, clear, and accurate. Save the jokes for hobbies if you must, but even then, tread carefully.
Use humour elsewhere. A cover letter or LinkedIn message is a better place to inject a little personality. If done right, it can help you stand out โ€“ but keep it tasteful and relevant.
  • As much as we love a laugh, your CV is your chance to show your skills and experience, not your comedy routine.
