Financial Controller – Step Into a No.1 Finance Role in a High-Growth Tech Business

A fast-growing software company in the Technology sector is looking for a hands-on, commercially driven Financial Controller ready to step into a No.1 finance role. Backed by an inspirational Group FD, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of finance in a scaling SME, shape financial strategy, and directly influence business performance.

This is a role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys building robust finance functions, and wants a clear path toward Finance Director leadership.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and partnering with the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll own day-to-day financial operations while driving strategic insight, control, and scalability.

Key responsibilities

  • Own monthly and quarterly group reporting, ensuring IFRS compliance and high-quality delivery
  • Strengthen financial systems, controls, and reporting to support business growth
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting, maintaining accuracy and driving forward planning
  • Act as finance partner to department heads, guiding commercial decision-making
  • Manage statutory reporting, audits, and external advisor relationships
  • Deliver insights to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee risk management, governance frameworks, and internal controls
  • Ensure tax and statutory obligations are completed accurately and on time
  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing finance team

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader
  • Strong IFRS (particularly IFRS15) expertise
  • Commercial mindset with sharp attention to detail
  • Confident engaging senior stakeholders and driving change
  • Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable in growth environments
